College Business

Wow. I am now a Junior in college and it is hard to believe that I am over half way done in my college studies. It still feels like just yesterday that I moved into my freshman year dorm, the same feeling I felt when I was a senior in high school looking back on my four years.
Life is busy and moves quickly if you do not keep up the pace of the American lifestyle. People today are constantly on the go and are always worried about what's the time, or next thing that I need to attend. I am guilty of filling my schedule and days full trying to make the most out of the hours that I am awake that day. But how often do I stop and rest or practice self-care? You can only run for so long until eventually you get sick or extremely tired and your body cannot handle it anymore. I struggle with resting and just being still and enjoying what life has to offer.
It's important to remember that God set the example in Gensis of the importance of rest. After creating everything into existence "he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he ha[d] done." In the midst of all the business and full days that God had during that week he took time to take care of his body and get ready for the adventures ahead of him.
Resting looks different for every person especially as a busy and over involved college student. For me resting looks like reading a book while drinking coffee, taking a nap, going on a long walk, hammocking, or enjoying the nature/outdoors. These are ways that I am able to take time for myself and "get ready" for what lies ahead. What are your ways that you can find rest this week?
